After 19 years of adhering to strict accounting deadlines and working for someone else, I am counting down the days (only 2 to go!) until I become FREE to do what I *really* want to do.
For those of you that don’t know, I’m combining my years of number crunching and real estate investing knowledge to become an investment focused Realtor.
The transition from Corporate Accountant to Realtor isn’t going to be easy, I’m certain of that. There’s the different pace, different benefits, drawbacks, rewards and downsides for a start. Giving up the security of a good monthly pay check and perks to become self employed has induced a few restless nights I can tell you.
Despite everything I have worked toward in my diverse accounting career, the allure of being my own boss and fully immersing myself in my passion for real estate investing is exciting and scary at the same time.
And in true Jane style, she has been totally supportive throughout every decision I make. “Jump and the net will appear” is a favourite of hers. How come women are just so damn good at “knowing” this stuff?
The rewards of doing what I love and being able to better combine work and family life as well as an unwavering perseverance for success has driven me to take the plunge and jump in with both feet. I’m no longer testing the water, I’m doing it!
So many people hold on tightly trying not to fail, yet to be wildly successful, I know I need to jump in knowing I will succeed even if I am not sure how it’s all going to come together. I am going after my mission because I am determined to make my dream a huge reality no matter what.
And even when I am bogged down working evenings and weekends (which will happen, I totally know that), I am so looking forward to the perk of going for lunch in a fancy restaurant with Jane in the middle of the day!!
I’m saying “Yes” to my dreams and looking ahead with optimism and lots of exciting opportunities coming my way.
What about you? What risks are you taking or have taken? I’d love to hear your comments.
