The Investor’s Mindset : Why Belief in Yourself is So Important

Posted on 02. Oct, 2011 by in News

There are days when we’ve seriously considered the real estate investing journey; days when the going gets tough and life seems to throw curve ball after curve ball.  For us, it’s trying to balance life as real estate investors with looking after 3 young children and working full time jobs.  Thankfully, those days are few and far between and it’s a testimony to our perseverance and determination that keeps us fired up, focused and moving forward no matter how testing it gets.

So why do we keep challenging  and pushing ourselves harder?  It’s probably because we have a total belief in our goals and know what is possible. We have an unwavering belief in ourselves -even on days when we question some of the difficult decisions we have to deal with, our focus is still on the bigger picture and how investing in real estate can create the lifestyle we are striving towards.

This leads me to the question “how firmly do you believe in yourself?”

Without belief, nothing is possible – with belief, anything is.  The first step towards achieving anything in life is believing.  A belief  in yourself,  a belief  that it’s possible to be a success (whatever success means to you) and total belief  that you can achieve your goals, no matter what obstacles come your way.

Sometimes success is a pathway cobbled with failures. Every stepping stone leads you to what you want, and you will get there. Failure shows that you are bold and fearless and willing to step out of your comfort zone.

Whatever your goals, don’t attack them with a “I’ll try” attitude. Either you will or you won’t. The worst thing you can do is assume you can’t do something before even trying it.  Tell yourself you’re going to do those things because that’s what you have told yourself.  The power of thought is the key to everything. It’s the difference between success and failure.

There’s no question about it – you will stay stuck in these patterns until you change the way you think (been there – done that). Self defeating assumptions will sabotage your success and keep you coming from a place of fear rather than freedom.  Learn to push through what you *believe* are your capabilities.  With every success, whether large or small, the belief in yourself will grow. You will find yourself stepping outside your comfort zone and your reward will be accomplishments that you truly deserve.

Have a great week.
